waiting for godar

is an LA-based, multidisciplinary architecture, interior, and furniture design studio. We create deeply personal spaces with an emphasis on materiality, story, and design integrity.

Waiting for Godar was founded in 2022 by Elizabeth Godar, an LA-based designer and filmmaker. She studied Architecture at Yale College before working as a residential architecture and furniture designer in New York for Leroy Street Studio and Los Angeles for Atelier de Troupe. She is also the founder of custom perforated metal cladding company Future Surfaces. She worked on objects and designs that have been featured in New York Design Week, Architectural Digest France, The Hangzhou Trennial of Fiber Arts, The Cut, Curbed, Milan Design Week, among others. For the last few years, she has split time between film and design; she Art Directed Chloé Zhao's Oscar-winning film Nomadland, and has contributed to production design teams for directors Paul Thomas Anderson, Andrew Dominick, and Jordan Peele.
